Prayer Shawl Directions
Mission:
1. To be a Praying Ministry not only for those that are receiving the shawls but to deepen our own prayer life and relationship with God.
2. To continue to hold each other and those in need of comfort in prayer.
3. To reach out and touch those in need of comfort in our congregation and community with a tangible symbol of God’s love.

The shawls makers benefit from the prayers while making the shawls and the blessings of giving to those that need encouragement. The recipients have a tangible reminder that they are in our prayers and to feel the love, comfort and peace of God.

After you have completed your shawl you can bring it to the church and leave it in the office with your name. Michelle Welinski tags all the shawls and keeps them available for anyone who needs them. The shawls are distributed by request or by the pastors as they are making calls. When one of the shawls you have made is given away, Michelle will let you know so you can pray for that person. You are also encouraged to send a card to the person who has received a shawl that you have made. Another need is Prayer Lap Blankets that can be given to men.

One suggestion is to keep a journal of all your shawls that have been given to others so as you are making new shawls you can pray for those that have received shawls in the past. Also, periodically send a card or note to remind them you are still praying for them.

Also, if you make a shawl that you are giving directly to an individual, please let Michelle know so we can pray for that person as well. Shawls can be used as outreach to coworkers or neighbors or other friends.

If you have questions, please contact Michelle at michellew@lordof life.org, 763-420-5015 or Janet Seim at rajeseim@aol.com.
